Halloween is quickly becoming my favorite holiday. I LOVE dressing up together as a family. We've been getting better at it since we were expecting our first kid (check out my FB). My friend, Kassie came up with this idea because she and Scarlett shared a love for the Tinker-bell movies (all on Netflix!). The idea solidified when I pictured myself as Peter Pan, because duh, I totally have his hair now.
We crashed our old ward's Trunk-or-Treat turned Church-Room-or-Treat because it was chilly and rainy outside. There were so many awesome costumes. For my custom PP look, I already owned all the green items I needed out of my closet. I must like that color; I married into it, after all. I bought the green leafy sash and the sword at a consignment store for a bone here and bone-fifty there. #ThriftyHalloween # HalloweenPuns
I procrastinated and put Captain Hook's costume together the day before. His vest turned out a little small, but its okay, because the fabric cost $2 and it was my very best effort.We had some leftover white silk from Alice's blessing dress that Brian's mom gave us for the lining and his robust shirt bow. His hat is made out of foam and an old Christmas stocking, and I absolutely adore his curly long dread locks made of yarn that I hot-glued to his hat.
Alice's costume is an $11 Costco classic. It's supposed to be a dragon but I took the Velcro wings off of it, so our little fairy could fly. Alice is always good at sharing.
Scarlett did say cheese for this picture, while she was pretending to fly about.
The wings and green leggings came with Alice's Dragon costume. Somehow, Scarlett fits into 0-9 month leggings. Kids' sizes are weird. Her dress was 5 buckaroos at Stuff Etc. a local consignment store. Score.
I had a light-bulb moment and tied these bells to her shoes instead of making Tink's pom-pom's as I had planned. She jingled like a fairy and it was a great way of keeping track of where she was. Until she ran off with some toddler buddies out of the Church building and starting jumping on a neighbor's trampoline. She was in trouble.
We got milk from Lark the cow and animal crackers from Bishop C-S Penguin.
We handed out Cuties and popcorn. Not because we're health-nuts, but because we forgot to buy candy. However, many people complimented our thoughtfulness to bring something other than (cheaper than) candy.
There were two other families with Peter Pan themed costumes. I caught Wendy in the background. Isn't Alice the sweetest snuggler?
Scarlett is potty trained, and she's never even said thank you. Thank you, mom, for potty training me!!!
