Pregnancy: 10 Things I Hate (and Love) About You

Movie Picture Reference (The Best Part of Referenced Film)

Pregnancy Picture Reference (17 weeks @ She-baby Discovery)

So here's the continuation of me gushing over baby/pregnancy/Scarlett stuff... and Jeremy, if you're reading this, I'm not sorry about how long this post is going to be. Nor will I ever apologize for how you decide to spend your time, especially when it's spent reading this incredibly awesome blog. And I mean that in a nice, sisterly way. Wink. Smiley face. Moving on.
Unlike some very organized women who document their progress with cute pictures and journals and baby kick counting systems, I sort of just sat back and let it happen.  But I would like to remember how it felt and what I looked like, mostly just for funzies. This post back tracks a little to reminisce about the peaks and troughs of those blessed 9 months. Maybe some of you prego ladies and moms will relate.   And maybe you won't.

Natalie's Top 10 Things She Hated About Being Pregnant

Me being huge and looking slightly miserable at 38 weeks.

Me saving face.

  1.  The anticipation. Toward the end there I really thought she would never come. Even though she was born right on her due date, April 28th. The last few weekly appointments were so discouraging.  Dr. Swift would say, "Well, the baby likes it in there" or "looks like you've both got some work to do".  I thought I was going to be 3 months late the way things were looking.
  2.  The weirdness associated with strong name opinions. I can't say I loved the question,"what are you going to name her?" I didn't want to taint the name Brian and I liked just because someone gave me the disgusted name face.
  3.  The bills. Ugh.
  4.  The occasional constipation. Quite a little devil, that constipation is.
  5. Trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in. There are rules about sleeping when you're pregnant. No sleeping on your back. No sleeping on your belly. No sleeping through the night. No sleeping, period...which brings me to number 6--
  6. Your bladder is not on your side. In fact, it doesn't even have sides. In fact, it doesn't even exist. Your urine just goes straight from your ureters to your urethra. I got up to pee every single hour during the night in the last 3 weeks. Of course, this is God's way of preparing you for a little baby that needs you to be awake often throughout the night. So, I thank thee, I think.
  7. Being huge and feeling full all the time, but sick if you don't constantly eat.  That shiz be trippin'.
  8. I missed riding my bicycle, and doing other dangerous things-- like eating sushi and going to Get Air for the 5 dollar special that one time when my whole family decided to go and jump on a room full of trampolines and foam pits and video tape how lovely the whole experience was and showed me the footage and had a gay old time and I was invited but what would be the point of going and I still want to go sometime.
  9. Walking around campus with my big prego belly to visit Brian at work and feeling judged. Not sure why this feeling came, because I didn't look at pregnant people at WSU and think that their bellies were the product of something unplanned or unsavory. Sometimes I just felt like a teenage baby mama, especially when we went to Weber events and parties. Maybe I was just outnumbered by the un-pregnant people...but hey it builds character to be the odd woman out.
  10. That one time  11 weeks gestation I puked my guts out on our way home from lifeguarding the Tough Mudder in Las Vegas. We were in a very full 15 passenger rental van. I puked out the passenger window (and a little inside bit inside of it) all the way to Delta's Emergency Room. Luckily I had the best caregivers in the world, in the van and at the hospital. Very memorable trip.
McKell and Mike getting an IV started on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. I smile when I'm delirious.

Cole was driving/checking signs of life for hours until we decided to seek professional care. We'd pull over for a bout of vomiting, clean up and carry on. I'm so grateful for such great friends!

Ah, I love complaining. Now on to the positive stuff.

This is a Blog.

Introduction

This is me. Natalie Davis Green, 23 years old. I think I was like 37 weeks pregnant here. Going for a Sunday hike with the Davis clan.

For some reason I had the hardest time starting a blog.  There are a few possible explanations.   1. I'm a procrastinator..  2. I was too busy (and inpatient) to figure things out on blogger. 3. I was afraid that I would have nothing interesting to write about, and that my blog would be lame and cheesy.
So I've been doing some blog surfing--not really for research, but for my own personal enjoyment/boredom remedy, and I've decided that I just don't care.  The blogs I love the most are about people's everyday lives, with proof of pictures of the food they ate or the places they visited or the faces their babies pulled. Putting my self -conscious little self out on the internet for all to see (okay, maybe just friends and family) doesn't matter as long as I get my memories and thoughts written down.  In conclusion, this blog will basically be my journal/ scrapbook/letters to those I love.  I especially want to start this blog for my sweet wiggly little babe, Scarlett, and her future siblings to come. Oh and for Grandmas Maureen and Janet to keep them satisfied with grandbaby updates and pictures.

So read on, blog visitor, if you would like to read about the lame and cheesy stuff that goes on in my little family's lives. Here's some stuff about Natalie:
I have a family and I love them. Let's start with my best friend, biggest fan, man of my dreams, Brian James Green.
Brian loves to bike. You could say I helped him discover this passion. Salt to Saint 2012.
He is a handsome devil with long hair. At a BBQ we weren't really invited to. Weber State, 2011.

Brian and I in Panguitch, UT. Visiting for my Lab Practicum, August 2012. I was pregnant here, and we didn't know it yet :)

Brian is smart.  He's loved Chemistry ever since Mr. Cruff (Cruff-dawg) introduced him his sophomore year of high school, and he's loved math and science even longer. He is planning on earning a PhD in Chemical Engineering. His nerd-dom is so attractive.
Brian loves music.  He's been to many a concert and loves to find cool new tunes, but he also has a love for classical music.  I don't know if that comes from his junior high band days (he plays the saxophone) or his obsession with Lord of the Rings soundtrack, movies, and books.
Brian is funny and incredibly likeable.  This can sometimes be annoying, because he is always his boss's favorite employee, teacher's favorite student, parent's favorite son (with the exception of Jeffy of course), etc.  He doesn't even suck up, that much.
I had a crush on Brian before we met, and after, of course. His first words to introduce himself were, "Hey Natalie, scratch my back." I was embarrassed and giddy, like I was most of the time as a 16-year-old girl. But that's a story for another time.
            I really really love him.
