Mother's Day

Mother's Day was especially wonderful this year.  It was all because of my cute Brian.  When we woke up,  he grabbed Scarlett and told her to give me a hug. Then I said, "Oh yeah, it's Mother's Day."  Then he jumped up and grabbed a little pamphlet I watched him print off in blue ink a couple nights before (our printer is out of black ink at the moment).  I thought he was printing something off for work, so I didn't even snoop.

I seriously love notes, especially love notes.  This one was hilarious and unique and especially designed with our relationship in mind. I wasn't planning on sharing the whole thing to keep his gesture nice and personal, but this way I'll be more likely to read it again and smile when I read my blog.

I love that he knows my preferences, I'm a little surprised that he listens to my girlish rambling, bless his heart.  I'm planning on getting my first professional pedicure and of course I gotta see Pitch Perfect 2.  Probably Tuesday unless I go into labor before then (my due date is  Thursday).

We ate German pancakes and rushed off so I could go to rehearsal for the ward choir.  This was my first practice with the choir in awhile and the same day as we performed but I didn't feel bad.  They seemed a little desperate for numbers, and I lack the commitment to be a regular choir attendee.

I was just released from my calling in Primary so I got to spend a kid-free Sunday School lesson giggling with Brian at Church.  We're both so impressed and relieved that Scarlett LOVES nursery.  She talks about it all week, and the minute sacrament meeting is over she says, "Ursery time!"  Okay, and usually before sacrament meeting is over.

At the end of Relief Society, the EQ came in and sang to us: I Often Go Walking and Mother I Love You.   It was very sweet.  I enjoyed the varying levels of sincerity on their faces.  Brian could not sing with a a serious face.  I'm so glad I married that guy.

After church we scuttled to pick up Scarlett, and she had presents!  I'm quite impressed with the nursery leaders for preparing something with all those toddlers.  Scarlett was SO proud of what she made for me.  I got cute hugs from her all day and she wanted to see her hands again and show them off to Grandma on Skype.

Scarlett took this picture of me, holding my gifts.

After a lovely fat-lady nap,  I was treated to a pork chop dinner prepared by Brian.  Even better than that, he washed the dishes.  I think that is the gift that I appreciate the most.  I am always so grateful when Brian takes the dishes on, and he does it half the time. He's an answer to prayers.

Mother's day was just so simple and great.  Sometimes motherhood can seem thankless and monotonous, but I know it is absolutely worthwhile to my husband, my daughters, and my Heavenly parents.  I know I'm being eternally rewarded for the care and concern I've taken on for my little family, and I love being important to them.
